Well done to everyone for working so hard throughout the year!

Energy Recovery Centre

1st July 2019

Year 6 visited the Energy Recovery Centre for a 'behind the scenes' tour of the facility. Emma and Abi, our guides, showed us the inner workings of the site and explained how no waste goes to landfill in Cornwall any more. Instead energy is recovered from waste that can't be recycled and electricity is generated for the local area.
Linked to our work in science and PSHCE, Year 6 learnt about the importance of recycling and discovered what can, and can't, be recycled. We were shocked to find out how much single use plastic is used in packaging that can't be recycled. We made pledges to cut down what we use. The site had a fully interactive museum explaining the difficulties of recycling and how we can recover energy from waste.
