History and Geography

At Indian Queens Primary, history provides a means of investigating, appreciating and understanding the society in which we live and how it has evolved. By looking backwards we can learn from the past and apply our learning to the future. We endeavour to use history in a cross-curricular manner to motivate and build curiosity in children. Key skills of empathy, research and questioning are taught as well as the development of knowledge. Geography provides a means of exploring, appreciating and understanding the world in which we live and how it has evolved. Geography explores the relationship between physical processes and human intervention. Geography stimulates curiosity and imagination and we aim to build upon the child’s curiosity by developing geographical skills, understanding and knowledge through studying places and themes.
