The school day runs from 8.55am-3.15pm for all children. The gates will be opened at 8.40am and children can arrive between 8.40am and 8.55am (activities will be provided for children in their classrooms).
It is important that all children are in class by 8.55 a.m. The bell at 8.55 a.m. signifies the start of the school day and the gates will be closed at this time.
Late arrivals are registered at the main office, and not in their class, so that repeated occurrences can be followed up. Similarly repeated incidents of children not being collected promptly after school will also be followed up and support offered.
Indian Queens Primary School cannot accept responsibility for children on the school premises before 8.40 a.m. and after 3.15 p.m. unless they are participating in an authorised activity (e.g. a school club). It is very important, therefore, that children do not to arrive before 8.40 a.m.
We are a non-denominational school. We endeavour to foster attitudes of tolerance, respect and care for others through all aspects of school life and specifically in Religious Education lessons, Collective Worship and Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education.
The school will work closely with you if you do not wish your child to be included in religious worship or instruction, or other modifications are required. If suitable religious instruction cannot be given in the school, the parent/guardian may provide it elsewhere and the pupil may be released from school for that purpose. This should not be at the expense of any other element of the curriculum. Please do come and discuss this matter should you wish to consider this option.
