Spring Term 2 - Sow And Grow

Welcome back - we are now half way through Year 5! Where has the time gone?!

This half term, children will be learning about how plants grow and reproduce through our topic ' Sow And Grow'. Our school trip will contribute to this learning as we will be visiting Woodland Valley farm, near Laddock. Here children will learn what organic farming is, what job roles are available on a farm (linking with our careers curriculum) and what plants need to grow successfully. They will also plant their own seeds to bring back to school.

Our English learning will be focused on Grammar, following our new curriculum by Grammarsaurus - see the medium term planning map below. Our Maths will be focused around decimals, followed by Perimeter and Area, and Statistics. We will also continue our work on times tables, using the Number Sense scheme.

Geography lessons will see a study of the Carargue River Delta in France, whilst in Computing, we will learn about how a search engine works.

As before, the children will their PE kits on a Monday and Friday, and this half term's learning will be on Dance and Orienteering.

The rest of our key learning can be found on the PDF below.
Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Woodland Valley Farm as part of our Sow and Grow topic, learning all about life on an organic farm. We met a range of animals on our tour of the farm and planted seeds in the vegetable garden.
